Annual ABT Goes Nuts!!! Party:) was on Sunday, December 18th from 1 -3 PM.
The Nutcracker Party was picture perfect. I am so happy and very proud of all of you! Thank you for a great party!!

Good Morning,

Friday Morning 9AM Ballet in Studio I followed by Mini-Pointe until 11:15 with Miss Cecily aka "Moi":) FYI - An interesting New Waltz made its ABT Debut in Thursday Evening's Class; We shall all be learning it within the next few days:) It is delightful & challenging:)

This afternoon is Week Four of One-Hour-Friday-Pointe from 4:30 to 5:30 Sharp. FYI Dancers - THIS is the week, as discussed in previous classes, we START with Pointe Shoes Already ON at 4:30 Sharp ( which means YOU are responsible for warming up your feet properly BEFORE Class for Several Minutes at LEAST. Therefore arrive early, ready-to-warm up your feet; if you are being chauffeured by a devoted friend or family member, you can always Jump Start the process by warming up your feet IN THE CAR. Hint Hint. You can work on your Ballet Feet all day, if you really think about it...

Good Morning Dancers, Dreamers & Planners,

Thursday Afternoons are so busy at Arizona Ballet Theatre, beginning promptly at 4:30 pm, with Ballet in Both Studios! Remember that there are over 100 parking spots available to us behind Bobb Dobb's and Rincon Market on the North Side of Sixth Street, not to mention plenty of parking spots on our side and to the East of Maguire's Jewelry...

I remain excited about the wonderful work I am observing in all our ABT Dance Classes; I am looking forward to Week Four of Stretch Class from 5:30 to 6:30 with you in Studio II. It is going to be a great afternoon.

Classes yesterday were amazing ~ So well attended in Both Studios. People are improving in "leaps & bounds," pun intended:)

Announcing A Pointe Challenge,

I want to put out, on my Blog - a Pointe Challenge I have proposed for one of our Performance Goals.

The first ABT dancer who can successfully perform The Classic Set of 32 Fouettes On Pointe during a Performance will receive an iPod:)

We have several possible candidates currently -such as Karina, Meilin, Mia and Willa - there are more. I plan on leaving this challenge on the table until it is met! Could be this year, could be next:) This is up to the individual dancer.

As discussed yesterday, briefly in class, one has to have a clean finish after the 32 turns. It could even be a Back Soutenu:) Pulling in for at least a double would be lovely, but it is Not Required. The 32 Fouettes Should Stay on the Spot (approximately; I few inches, do not matter.) If, any contender thinks she can pull off 32 traveling on the diagonal, that is an option, too. It is OK to think outside the Ballet Box. This is a challenge that will require a plan, lots of practice, and patience. All good things.

As for today - Miss Megan, Miss Rebecca & I are looking forward to a busy dance afternoon with you. We have a lot going on collectively. I love it!

We have a lovely new Arizona Ballet Theatre Calendar in our Lobby which features a collection of photographs from our June Performances as well as the year-end 2012 Nutcracker Party. I created this calendar using an Apple program. Since several of you have already expressed an interest in acquiring a calendar of your own, it can certainly be arranged. This is the first time I have ever done this; there may be other, less expensive calendar programs. I am new to this, so I would appreciate any feedback input...
