Now that Labor Day is past, we have updated the 2016 Fall Schedule. Some classes were canceled for lack of attendance.

Saturday, August 20th, 2016

Hello Dancers,

Today's Audition for The Nutcracker went off very smoothly. We are still seeking dancers age eleven and up for several sections. Boys and men are especially encouraged to attend. We need you!

The second audition will be held on Monday, August 22nd, at 6pm, after Mr Walker's Monday afternoon Ballet Class ends.

Based on today's experience, Monday's audition will be for DANCERS age eleven and up, only.

Younger Arizona Ballet Theatre Dancers will definitely have the amazing opportunity to appear on stage at our Holiday Performance 2016, which will be held at The Stevie Eller Dance Theatre on Sunday, December 18th in the early afternoon.

In addition to The Nutcracker we will be presenting "A Holiday Carnival of the Animals," choreographed by Miss Cecily and Staff. Well behaved students who dance at ABT, attend classes consistently, and are willing to commit will be able to perform.

A special shout-out to Brooklyn!  Good job observing the audition process today, which can be quite overwhelming for even the most experienced dancers. Good job:)

I will be conducting an audition for younger dancers at a time soon to be announced. If your dancer is interested, please send me an email to that effect. The hardest part is finding a time suitable for one and all. I may have to explore other options

Thank you one and all for your support and participation! As we move forward together, we must coalesce as a team to create dance MAGIC.

Rest assured, we will be dancing our hearts out all Fall Semester at ABT.

Remember, life is what happens to you when you are busy making other plans.

With that being said, many familiar faces are absent at our School even though we are already two weeks in to Fall Semester 2016. I would appreciate an email at the least, either way - if you are planning on including dance in your life and are returning to ABT, or if you are taking a break to making other choices.

Thank you.

See you next week, or if not, I hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you!

Miss Cecily

Congratulations, Performers!  Our June 4th & 5th Shows were really wonderful! Good Job! I am proud of you.

Now  is  the time to return your clean costumes and to pick up your DVD of one performance - either Saturday at 6pm or Sunday at 2:30pm.  FYI - You should choose the dvd of the day you felt you performed your best.  A recording of our Friday Dress Rehearsal is also available, but must be special ordered, at no extra fee.  Each performer who paid their performance fee is entitled to one dvd.  Extra DVD copies, for example, of the day you did not select, can be purchased for $30 each.

Leotards should all be washed before being returned,  as well as dance shorts that belong to the studio, and other washable items, such as unitards.  For dancers who performed in the red fringed dresses - please do not machine wash them.  Just return them to me, and I will take care of cleaning them…..

Next Topic -

All About Nutcracker Camp is on the ABT Summer Schedule - 2016 for Two Weeks -  Week One runs from June 13th - 17th, Week Two runs from June 20th - 24th.  A sign-up sheet was present in the Lobby for the last several weeks, and the Camp is listed in our program.  So far, there has been some interest, but not enough, by any means, to justify running the camp. Therefore, if you are interested, you must email me asap.

To Be Clear -

The  Morning Camp Session runs from 9AM to Noon each day - cost is $33 per day. The Afternoon Camp Session runs from Noon to 3pm each day - the cost is also $33 per day. Therefore, doing both sessions will cost $66 per day.  Campers should bring lunch and snacks with them.  Campers who want to purchase items at Rincon Market will be escorted across the street; of course, send money with your camper to pay for items purchased at Rincon Market.

The Camp is open to all ABT performers who participated in last weekend’s two shows, and other ABT students - non-performers -  ages 6 and above.

The first day of Camp, Monday, June 13th - we will have Morning & Afternoon Dance Classes, AND we will watch the DVD of Arizona Ballet Theatre Celebrates Women - 2016!

Every day at Camp, we will engage in learning New Nutcracker Choreography by Camp Staff, watching videos and DVDs of several different productions of The Nutcracker, as well as creative activities such as coloring and taking photographs of scenes from The Nutcracker.  I will be taking photographs of all our Nutcracker efforts.

The goal is to become familiar with the story, the music, the history and the details of the most performed ballet in the world, The Nutcracker! Camp Staff includes Cecily Bressel, Grace Rhyne, Calista Olander & Mackenzie Sanders.  We also are hoping to produce quality dances that will be performed at The Stevie Eller Dance Theatre in December.

Every day, and every camp session will be a unique, fun experience, as long as we have happy participants!

If you would like to attend camp, please email me with your details;  Which session? Morning, Evening or both, which days, and or weeks? I need to hear from you!

As it now stands, the doors will be open on Monday, June 13th, 2016, at 8:30 am; Camp will happen on Monday, June 13th,  no matter what.  However, if there are not enough dancers signed up for the rest of the session, then Camp Will Be Cancelled, and other arrangements will have to be made.

Next Topic -

Other Summer Classes besides The Nutcracker Camp, are already happening, Morning Ballet will happen at 9AM on Monday, Wednesday & Friday for the entire month of June  and some of July. Thursday Evening Adult /Teen Ballet at 6:30pm will also be held.

Grace  is trying to organize Summer Modern Classes with Norman; we need at least 6 students in attendance to make it work! You know who you are.  This is your chance to study with The Master.

Karina is hoping to teach Tap this Summer, and held a class last night.  You can still participate.

If you a re interested in Dancing at Arizona Ballet Theatre this summer, you must let me know!

I would like the Studio to be bustling with activity.  I need your participation to make that happen.

Again, I am very pleased and proud of you and our marvelous shows!

I am hoping to hear from many of you over the weekend.

Thank you so much.

  • Saturday evening's performance was incredible!

  • The show is wildly entertaining with an over the top "cuteness" factor from our tiniest performers - who tend to steal the show - to our professional level, advanced pieces by Norman Walker which can hold their own against any choreography presented by any dance group in our beautiful state.

  • It is very exciting to see the improvements in artistry and technique that this last year of hard work has produced in all ABT students:)

  • Please invite all supporters of the Arts whom you know. They will love it! Remember, you and your guests will be enchanted with our production of "ABT Celebrates Women - 2016!"

We will be adding selected photos from the Dress rehearsal go to our Facebook page or click on "ABT Photo Galleries" at the top of this page.

Our Spring 2016 Semester has begun. We are off to a wonderful start!

All our teachers and staff are excited about the upcoming Semester which will culminate with our June 2016 performances at The Stevie Eller Dance Theatre, on the U of A Campus. As always, and specifically this Spring Semester, we are particularly focused on advancing your technical foundation as well as developing your artistic sensibilities. Expect a lot of drilling of basic technique, especially in all my Ballet Classes, to make you stronger, cleaner, and feeling great! By generating much desired Dance Endorphins in all your classes, 2016 wiloll be fantastic.  A great resolution, if you like them would be to Come Dance & Be Happy Today and Everyday at Arizona Ballet Theatre. What could be better?

Congratulations on your performances at the Nutcracker Party at the Stevie Eller Dance Theatre on December 13th, 2015. I have always loved the informality of our Annual Party; I think it is wonderful and informative for our audience members to see the process in real time.  Good Job!

I plan on contuninung with our Party Tradition with more events in-house at the Studio. And...tada...

As I mentioned at the Party, in December of this new year, 2016, we will taking our Nutcracker Focus to the next level. We will be performing The Nutcracker!  Behind the scenes, and in classes,  will be addressing The Nutcracker Project - 2016 - all year long, including Summer Camp Sessions.

With enthusiasm, committment, planning and focus, together we will create a clever, fun, fast paced Nutcracker with exciting chalenges for all involved.  That is my plan, and I am sticking with it.

Therefore, we all will be Busy, Busy, Busy as Ballet bees from your first class to the last rehearsal! What fun! Dance is a Performing Art;  How important to have performance goals to take us all to the next level...

On a practical note, please remember to return your Holiday Party Costume Bags, and please wash any leotards in the bag.  Only about half on the bags have been returned, thus far.  I would like them all back as soon as possible, so that I may put them away.   I need to focis on the June Performances, and Space and time are limited.  By returning your bag promptly, we can to get started on organizing Costumes for June and beyond.  Of course, Mr Walker is already requesting some wonderful items from our collection for his pieces. And I have been pulling them out.  So cool.   There is no time like the present.  Please, please, please remember to  return your bags asap!!!!!

You can click on the "Spring Class Schedules and Tuition Tables" above for that info.

And, please remember to Like us on Facebook and to tell your friends about Arizona Ballet Theatre:)

Happy Miss Cecily

Friday December 11th, 2015

Good Morning ABT Dancers & Dance Families,

Our Annual Holiday Nutcracker Party 2015 is almost upon us; in just two days, we will be dancing on the Stage at The Stevie Eller Dance Theatre, on the U of A Campus. The party will run from 2 - 4 pm on Sunday, December 13th, 2015. (You might want to drive by the Theatre in advance if you have never been there before….)

Costume Bags will be distributed all this week at The Studio. If you have not signed up to participate and you intend to come, please do so ASAP, so that I will have a costume bag for every dancer. I will do my very best to make sure that everyone has a fun Costume; we really do have quite a Costume Collection from which to choose. Keep in mind that I always try to bring any extras to the Theatre in case there are some last minute, unexpected participants. The more the merrier!

FYI - Girls, you should wear pink tights and pink ballet slippers, and please bring all your other dance shoes with you including tap and jazz shoes. Boys, bring your jazz and tap shoes, please. Dancers are always prepared for whatever may happen. Bring all your dance stuff just in case….

My hope is that everyone will participate in this fun, informal party which is an opportunity to get acquainted with “The Theatre Experience and the Magic of Dancing” on such a beautiful stage; the party will begin with a short warm-up on stage; we will then share our dance pieces with the audience (who will be seated comfortably in the lovely auditorium). Since this is a rather informal event, we may be running the pieces more than once. The goal is to have a fun, productive experience in a pressure-free environment.

After the presentations on stage, we will have a Potluck Party on the Plaza in front of the Theatre. Please bring savory or sweet, Pick-up Party Snacks that are easy to share. (Please avoid any items that might require cutting up and/or forks to eat!) Please keep it tasty and simple!

One other thought which would prove very helpful - if you know you are NOT going to participate due to a conflict on December 13th, please let me know that you won’t be coming. Then I will not worry about leaving you out, which I would never want to do!

FYI - there will still be a week of classes following the party. The semester runs through December 23rd :)

That is it for today. I am very pleased with all we have accomplished so far this semester and am looking forward to a great dance time ahead.

Miss Cecily, very excited for the days ahead!

Our ABT Halloween Party was great fun! We had delightful activities and lots of Dancing!!! All age groups enjoyed this party. Amazingly, not one little one cried the whole time.  It lasted almost a full three hours. The coloring center was a success, We featured outline photos from he movie "Frozen." Chic the photographer said he wanted to color too, but he was too busy... :)

Speaking of photos, we have posted quite a few on Arizona Ballet Theatre's Facebook pages - there seem to be two different ones so look again if you dint see the photo album.

Now we are creating a Halloween Eve Party gallery. Just click on the ABT Photo Galleries heading at the top of this page to see our fun party.  We intend to keep posting additional party shots for the next month or so.
