Good Morning Dancers and Dreamers,
Adult Ballet Technique Class with me this morning at 9AM as usual. Mini-pointe to follow.
This week has been very busy and exciting at ABT. Yesterday afternoon - our first official Thursday of the new ABT Summer Program - was a dance blast. So many of our younger dancers, still experiencing the excitement of our performances, came to the Studios ready and eager to continue their quality dance training. Both Megan and I had terrific turn-out in every class (delightful pun intended) and are thrilled to be teaching such enthusiastic students. Well done to all involved!
I am still processing our in-theatre experience from the first warm-up in the Grande Studio on the third floor of the Stevie Eller Building to our final moments on stage together. Nothing moves me more than seeing all our dancers from age three on up, dancing together in preparation for those magical moments on stage. To see the littlest ones get comfortable in the strange and wonderful theatre setting over the course of a few days is truly my dream come true. AND, our performances are the proof of not only our process, but my artistic vision. Our dancers carried themselves like royalty from the smallest to the most experienced and advanced. I am delighted!
Please let us know which DVDs you wish to purchase. Carlos, the videographer, is a professional, an expert at capturing dance in that particular dance venue, and I am most happy with his product which he has made available so very quickly. So far, the Sunday performance is selling somewhat better than Saturday's, although BOTH performances and DVDS are great.
Ed Flores is editing down the hundreds of photos he took to a more manageable amount for us to look though. He promised me yesterday that he will make his best shots available within a few days. It is a bit hard to wait, but I know the results will be fabulous. And, I remember the days of contact sheets, and slow slow slow photo access, so unlike today's digital universe which has recently lured me into its grasp. I have become a photography junkie with a particular focus on my dancers and my beautiful garden. I do love watching people and flowers grow. How lucky I feel!
Keep me posted with your concerns and questions. As always, I am trying to improve ABT - a dancer's mission always.
I look forward to hearing from you!
